The Ratibul Haddad events serves as a platform for the exploration and celebration of local cultural heritage. “a medley of  praises for the Almighty, salutations upon his noble Prophet Muhammad SAW and invocations often recited in a unique capetonian melody with varying pitches and tones in the Arabic language. The events/ gatherings usually take place on a Thursday evening, Sunday morning or in celebration of significant events such as naming of a new born or commemorating someone’s death”. by his teacher (sheikh) while he and his wife Faghmieda were performing their Hajj (pilgrimage) in 2023. The Sheikh asked Dr Yasien the following question “to this day what have you done for the benefit of humanity?” The question was then followed with this instruction “dedicate yourself and your time to constantly be in the service of others”. Hareesun was thus founded on their return and has to date reached four countries in Africa.

The organisation was then named Hareesun by the sheikh who highlighted the follwing from the Holy Quraan surah At-Tawbah (the repentance) verse 128: “There certainly has come to you a messenger from among yourselves. He is concerned by your suffering, anxious for your well-being, and gracious and merciful to the believers” it is for this reason that Hareesun portrays the words “deeply concerned” on its logo.

After earning his doctorate in Public Administration, social sciences, Dr. Ryklief combined his passion for social justice with a commitment to sustainable development. His journey began in 2010 when he was first appointed in the Western Cape Government and later the education sector as Registrar of a private teacher education institute, where he recognized the pressing need for effective interventions in marginalized communities.

Under his leadership, Hareesun NPO has launched numerous initiatives focusing on education, health care, and community empowerment. Dr. Ryklief believes in a holistic approach to humanitarian work, advocating for collaboration among various stakeholders, including local governments, businesses, and community members.

His dedication to making a difference has earned him recognition both locally and internationally. Dr. Ryklief is not only a thought leader in humanitarian efforts but also an inspiring mentor to young activists and professionals in the field.
